Elly's brother was Friedrich Nathan (Fritz) Spanier, also born in Kalkar. He had a kosher boarding house in Amsterdam. He cared for her daughters Ruth and Margot, who were deported with him and his family from Westerbork. Their parents were Abraham Albert Spanier (Kalkar 1868- Amsterdam1938) and Helene Sternberg (Maxsain 1870- Kalkar 1934)
Fritz Marcus Spanier also came to the Netherlands, but only in 1939. He was the head of the hospital of Westerbork camp from 1940 to 1945. His parents were Amalie Kaufmann and Adolf Spanier.
This mix up is quite annoying.
