Conflicts on Family Tree

I keep getting duplicates of family member names, and since my Dad's name is the same as my name, it crosses over to incorrect relationships. Since DATES are clearly listed, there are impossibilities that occur. This is not a very good system if it cannot detect conflicts in information and additionally, make it easily correctable. There should be an easier way to merge files. My wife cannot also be my daughter, and it lists my name twice, indicating I have a brother by the same name.

Is there an easy resolutions besides deleting an entire file?

Conflicts will be due to either bad data entered or incorrect merges / edits subsequently. You can ask for help from a curator to straighten the tree out.

There is a user created tool called SmartCopy that helps bring information into Geni from other sites such as Find a Grave, Ancestry, MyHeritage. It has a nice feature that it detects some of the inconsistencies automatically and flags them.

There is a "sticky post" at the top of Public Discussions where you can ask for curator assistance. You need to give them the details, links for them to be able to help. If the profile(s) are private, you may need to email a curator to ask for help.

Once you get your tree corrected, there are ways to make sure that errors don't creep in again, such as making profiles Master Profiles, locking the data fields, locking the relationship fields.

https://www.geni.com/discussions/172007 is the discussion to post for help from curators.
