My husband and I have tested with FTDNA to level 37. We have found several pedigrees that match our pedigrees on Geni and on Family Tree DNA. We would like to match the DNA tests to the pedigrees.

Since all of the Mayflower ancestors in my family cross gender lines, we can not connect directly to our Mayflower ancestors with YDNA. However, we can connect to known spouses and their offspring. For example, Susannah Howland, (granddaughter of John Howland) married Ephriam Wood, (son of Samuel Wood (1647-1718), their son, Samuel Wood, (d.. 1750 Middleboro, MA.) and their grandson, Samuel Wood, (b. 1750, Middleboro, MA) and great grandson Ira Wood, who are named in Mayflower Silver Books.

By using YDNA, a direct line can be traced through known spouces and their offspring. By comparing pedigrees with, dna, we can also find errors in pedigrees. For example, It has been said that Samuel Wood, (1647-1718, father of Ephraim Wood) married Rebecca Tupper. However, Mayflower records and DAR records say that Rebecca Tupper married Lemuel Wood, (great grand nephew of Samuel Wood (1647-1718)) and the records also say that Samuel Wood, (1647-1718) married Rebecca Morton, (daughter of Ephriam Morton).

If others have traced their family lines on paper, this might be a good way to back-up what you have found.
