My name is Ruth Anne Carr (nee Edmonds). Alida Regina Edmonds was my late father's mother. The name of my late father was the same as that of my paternal grandfather, i.e. William Charles George Edmonds. My late father was born in the Vryburg area (the former Cape Colony) on 16th November, 1908. He died at Ingweni (near Hluhluwe, KZN) on the 30th June, 1962 where he had been working as an accountant for another large family concern. My father married the late Helena Aletta Katrina Rich, formerly Cox-Jones, formerly Shand, nee Roux at Springbok on 7th November, 1950. There is an interesting picture of my late father and his two younger sisters in a now out of print publication named "Children of the First World War". The sisters were Anne Elizabeth van Niekerk (nee Edmonds), born 2nd September, 1910 and Lilias Alida Charlotte Bosman (nee Edmonds) born 7th October, 1911 who died on 12th July, 1983. I have actually been trying to trace more information about the Edmonds side of my family tree. However, it is very interesting to find out that the late Gert Johannes Casparus Knoetze was my paternal great grandfather who hailed from the Eastern Cape.
