According to my grandmother (Grace Josephine Mike (Cleveland)) and my aunt (Sandra Ellen Stoddart (Pownell)) Alphonso W. Cleveland has boasted to being sire to 26 children during his life. I wonder if a few of these may be still born or early infant deaths during his tenure in Rock Creek, MN. It's not clear if Minnesota was keeping birth/death records during the time he was working there. Not sure what become of first wife Annie Franklin. I found an earlier link via Find-a-grave that placed Oretta Alma's burial site in St. Mary's Cemetery near Milwaukee. They lost a few children while in the Milwaukee area and Oretta's death just a day before her brother would lead me to think that a flu or other disease was affecting the community they were living in. Anybody have any insite?
