As a child, I really admired my Uncle Frank Boehm -- my maternal grandfather's brother (my great uncle). Most of my cousins on the Boehm side of the family were boys. At family gatherings in the 1950's, we cousins often ended up playing "Cowboys and Indians" (now, I suppose, highly politically incorrect, but remember that this was the '50s). Each of us boys would pick which cowboy we wanted to be -- Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Hopalong Cassidy, etc. Although I don't recall it myself, my mother (Vera Irene Boehm Metzler) tells that at one of the family gatherings I chose to be MY favorite guy -- Uncle Frank!
