Something has gone wrong, and the Revision Tab can no longer currently be relied on.

Example 1: Lori Vengrow 's Revision Tab reports a merge on Wed (10/19/2017) and the next line up reports that, a minute later, her "profile was updated. death, living status and privacy" by Geni (so am thinking, actually as a result of the merge). Clicking on "view" for that line shows that "Is Alive" was changed to No, that Public was changed to Yes, and that a value was entered for Death Date and Death Location - AND that these are the current values.

However - while the Profile is currently marked deceased and Public - there is no value displayed on the Profile nor shown in the Edit Screen for either Death Date or Death Location!!
Personally - do not like that merging a Private Deceased Profile with a Living one results in Geni setting the Profile to Public - but that is probably a separate problem.

That the Revision Tab shows a Current value for Death Date and Death Location which the Profile does not - that is a serious disconnect.

[PLEASE - do not attempt to "Correct" if you are not Mike Stangel - want him to have a chance to actually see this error]

Example 2: Wilson Crabtree -- Revision Tab reports a merge done yesterday (ie 10/19/2017]) -- View on Merge shows two profiles, each having one manager, to be merged. The resultant profile shows those two as managers of the merged profile. The line above the statement of the merge says "unknown was added as a manager of" the Profile [again, by Geni] -- --
NOTE - revision says "unknown" was added - instead of naming the person added, as is routinely the case - and since the person is named on the Profile and in the View Merge - seems clearly "unknown" is in error.

Hoping folks will look a bit and and post if they see additional examples of what seem to be failures on the part of the Revision Tab.

oops - my goof - Example 1 - Wed was 10/18/2017 - not 10/19/2017 !

But - please - do check and lets see if we can figure out when these goofs on the part of the Revision Tab are happening. And/or - does anybody know when or why it is sick?
I definitely want to be able to rely on the Revision Tab.

Private User here's the current status: we've been unable to reproduce the conditions that caused the profile for Lori Vengrow to show a revision for death date and location, but not actually have that information applied to the profile. We haven't given up but so far in our testing, this doesn't seem to be a regular occurrence.

We *did* reproduce the privacy problem, and have released a fix for it. Merging a private, deceased profile into a living profile will no longer result in a public, deceased profile.

On Wilson Crabtree, the reason it shows "unknown" being added as a manager as part of the merge, is that James Carroll was previously claimed and then merged shortly after Wilson Crabtree was merged. We normally write revision stories to try to know the names of the profiles involved at the time that the revision occurred, however for this "set manager" revision we're not retaining enough information to do that. We'll keep looking into whether / how to make that possible.

Also on Lori -- Two Thoughts (related) --
I] any chance you can do anything about the About Info in Death Event (Timeline) disappearing when a merge happens where Primary Profile to-be has as Living, but non-primary Profile has deceased, with info in About of Death Event -- -- Example: again, for Lori Vengrow 1) you can see what is now listed as "Death of (No Name)" - https://www.geni.com/profile/6000000008906139756/events/60000000364... - it is the event that should be Lori's Death Event -- 2) Lori is included in that Event - I see her listed as one of the 8 under People in it -- but that Event does not appear on Lori's Timeline - is that a separate bug?? -- and 3) there is no info in the About of Lori's Death Event
II] It is not a Revisions Tab Error - which is why it was not mentioned here before - but wondering if it is possible something in its occurrence triggered the Revisions Tab Error??
