Just saying - queries from members in the Geni Community Help Forums are mostly seeming to be ignored.
Is there not a curator or other support staff available for answering these queries?

Here.......

Personally, I think Geni should simply post a note directing folks wanting such help to post an entry in the Public Discussions - and close Community Help. I do not see the plus side of having both it and Public Discussions.

Expecting Curators to monitor all the different places in Help where questions can be asked as well monitoring the Public discussions as well as actually working on Profiles and on helping folks is asking Curators to stretch themselves awfully thin.

Yes I agree with your comments Lois. Maybe someone will take that idea on board and post a redirection link with a note of advice.

I don't think such notes help.

When you are entering a request in the help section you get a lot of suggestions to already existing topics where you might find the answer. If you are ignoring such hints you will probably also ignore other suggestions as well.

Of the same reason those who are answering requests in the help section get tired of answer the same question over and over again, even worse if there are clear instructions in the FAQ.

I take your point Bjorn, & respect if must be frustrating answering the same questions over again. Can't speak for other folks of course, but I for one would always first search the FAQs, and only post a query if it isn't already covered. But must add with respect - I've found that sometimes search results take you only to a post in the Community Help requests where someone else had been looking for the same information but has never been answered. Just saying.
