One Elizabeth Sweetser, "of Charlestown," a widow, married William Paine in November 1722 and bore him 5 children, dying before him apparently.
Another Elizabeth Sweetser, born in 1698 in Malden, married Samuel Tufts who died in 1735.
They were confused and I have separated them and assumed that the Sweetser parents belong to the wife of Samuel Tufts since there are more references to her parentage in the sources I saw. It would be good if this Elizabeth Sweetser's biographical data were verified and if someone could support my reasoning.
The vital record for Medford for the marriage of William Paine is here: https://books.google.com/books?id=61uPhhZf3OIC&pg=PA270&lpg...
OK, Maybe this is becoming a bit more clear. Both couples were married in 1722, and, amazingly, they are sequentially recorded on the marriage document I attached to all 4 of them. I think your Elizabeth Paine could be Elizabeth Paine .

Or is that what you just veered away from?
Excellent Jessica Marie German. The dates are good, Benjamin Sweetser, husband of Elizabeth Phillips died in 1720 and she was "of Charlestown". I should have looked at Torrey.
Jessica Marie German - How great that I finally have some spare time for Geni and am crossing paths with you so I get to see your excellent work. I agree. I was working on Samuel Baldwin and that took me to a Grover and then to Paine, Tufts, Sweetser. Genealogy is indeed a rabbit hole. I tend to like the serendipity and wide ranging nature of genealogy although you have to come up from the rabbit hole and work systematically as well.
Last night I also discovered Henry Sweetser of the Sweetser line merged with a German immigrant Henry Schwertzer / Switcher so unraveled that to some extent.
