Looking for any information regarding who the mother is for Thomas Gibbs Jr. (1645-1732) of Sandwich, MA...it seems to be accepted that his father was Thomas Gibbs (Gibbes) Sr. (ca.1615-1692) and it has been suggested by several accounts that his mother was Isabel Wilson (born ca.1581) but the dates do not seem to fit. Geni.com has her death in 1633, 12 years before the birth of Thomas Gibbs Jr., and Ancestry.com has her death at 1693 which would make her 112 years old when she died. ANY help appreciated!
Robert P.,
The wife of Thomas Gibbs Sr., is unknown. She wasn't named in Thomas' will, the boys were required to keep her accommodated until her death. I can with certainty confirm that the Thomas Gibbs who settled into greater Sandwich, IS NOT the Thomas Gibbs who married Isabella Wilson. Isabella father was Rev. William Wilson D.D., Canon of Windsor, who was commissioned to build a pedigree for Robert Gibbes. The Folkestone & Elmstone lineages report to the DNA Haplogroup of I1 (I-M253) and 4 descendants of Thomas report to Haplogroup R1b1a2a1a1b3c (R-L2).
Two testers from two different sons, match 100% at 37 Markers, also of note is that two testers from Mathew's son also matched 100% to the same Markers as Thomas' meaning they share a Common Unknown Ancestor.
