- Think below illustrates a continuing problem where info in Timeline Events are getting lost. Suspect applies to not only Death Event but also Marriage Event, and possibly some more (Burial? others?)
A merge was recently done on David Joseph Lobel
One version had lots of Managers, so became the Primary Profile - it had the person as alive, so no Death Event
The other version had the person as Deceased, had info in the Death Event, and had Documents linked to the Death Event.

If you look in the Media Tab for David, you will see a document for Find-A-Grave and a document for an Obit - both list David as one of the profiles tagged, which is good - both go to the event "Death of (No Name)" -- and when one clicks on the event as listed there, one goes to the event, with information -- if one goes to David's Timeline and his Death Event - no info, no documents there.

Many folks tie a document to an event, without tagging anyone - in those cases, the documents and the info in the Timeline Event would in effect be totally lost - so fixing this actually is more urgent than it might seem.

Hope you can fix this, Mike Stangel
(will try to hold off changing for a bit, so you can see it, in case that will help)

Mike Stangel - there was a merge today on this profile -- Lori Vengrow - if you look at her death event, you will see nothing there.
BUT -- 1) what is now listed as "Death of (No Name)" - https://www.geni.com/profile/6000000008906139756/events/60000000364... - is the event that should be Lori's Death Event -- 2) Lori is included in that Event - I see her listed as one of the 8 under People in it -- but that Event does not appear on Lori's Timeline - is that a separate bug??
Pretty Please - fix the problem with Death Events which occurs after a merge when the Death Event existed in the non-primary profile but not the Primary.

(There is a Document, tagged to Lori, which should go to one of the Death Events - which SHOULD be the same Death Event - but instead goes to Lori's Birth Event - not sure if I accidentally hit wrong place in drop down menu back when, or if the system somehow did that).

Also - if you have time for curiosity - it says Bry was made Primary Manager at 2:42 AM "by Geni" - no merge mentioned - then that Profile, which now had two managers, was merged by a Curator at 3:08 am - with mine which had way more info - but since there were two managers to one, the two with basically no info - and still had her as living - became primary. Curious - what triggered Bry being added as a Manager, given all it says about her relation to the Profile is "is connected" vs. I am 3rd cousin twice removed, and the other person is 2nd cousin once removed (and 'Actions' on his profile does not show him as 'Abandoned Profile').

Private User - See comment on what went wrong (with Death Event) in the merge I refer to above - and hoping that -- - unless and until Mike fixes the bug causing Death Events (ie the About event info and documents, and probably photos, etc. in Death Events) to be transferred/merged correctly when they are in what is to be the non-Primary Profile, while at the same time what is to be the Primary Profile has the person as living - could you be super-aware of this issue when doing merges, and possibly help alert and sensitize your fellow Curators to it?

And - out of Curiosity - - would you happen to know what triggered Bry to be added as Primary Manager for Lori and her three siblings (at 2:42 am today, my time), followed by you merging each of those with a Profile I managed at shortly after 3 am today (my time)?
Was it something you did, or was your attention caught by it for some reason, or just coincidence?

I meant NOT transferred/merged correctly!! (seem to have left out the "Not")

Mike Stangel - this is getting worse and worse. Just realized Lori Vengrow does not show any date of Death, or Death Location even tho there had been one in my version of the Profile -- looked at Revisions to see why -- and
Revisions shows Death Date and Death Location of Lori changed to the values I had had for her - and that they are each the "Current Value" - but Profile does not show any Date of Death or Location of Death!!
So that is, I believe, a NEW ADDITIONAL BUG - yes?.
And possibly even more serious.

In Profile (David) I refer to in first comment, Death Date was correctly entered on merged Profile. That was Sept. 30. Looks like someone has made things worse, since in merge done on Oct. 18 (Lori), the Revisions Tab says Death Date entered and there still - BUT Profile does not have it.

It used to just be that the Death Event sort of went into la-la land -- Now the Data is also being mis-handled and the Revisions Tab is no longer reflecting what the Profile shows - again, in cases where two profiles are merged, one shows Death Event info in About of Death Event and other had as living - and the one that had as living is chosen for the Primary.

Dan Cornett - saw discussion of API problem and changes not being shown in Revisions Tab -- and above has changes that should have happened being shown in Revisions Tab as having happened and claiming those values currently in the Profile - but the Profile not showing those values -- wondering if any connection? [see Comment by me two above this, to Mike] -- this is new problem.

Old Problem - losing the info in the Death Event About, and Documents tagged to it - still problem also - but new problem also definitely involved with Revision Tab failure to reflect actuality, while old problem not connected to that.
