I visited Arcata, CA, in 1991. Being a Brazilian, Portuguese-Azorian descendent, I was lead to the Catholic Church cemetery, by my friend the police sargeant Thomas Dewey. He showed me some of the many gravestones written in Portuguese.
By that time, I hadn't done any survey on genealogy. Nowadays, I would see that all with other eyes...
Maybe it would be possible to find some kinship.
