Please take a fresh look at the Mormon Pioneers 1847 project page and you'll see some links to some spreadsheets and some new project instructions.
I've put together a shareable google spreadsheet that lists each of the 2,165 pioneers known to have arrived in Utah in 1847. I'm in the process of going through that spreadsheet and checking off the ones that have profiles on geni and which ones are missing.
Everyone is invited to help with this as I've made the spreadsheet shareable so you can edit it also. Feel free to do so including adding to geni any of the 1847 Mormon pioneer arrivals that are not yet on the geni. The color coding you'll see on the spreadsheet is pretty easy to understand. Green means that the pioneers profile has been found on geni. While if you type an "x" in the column it will turn a red color to indicate that that person dosen't currently have a profile on geni that could be found.
There is even a column on the spreadsheet labeled "Google Search Term." An easy way to locate these profiles is to just copy and paste the suggested search term into google and see if it finds a matching profile on geni. This works 90% of the time and is actually faster than doing a search specifically from geni itself in most cases. Also for many of the pioneers I have a link to their profile on familysearch.org which can help clarify family relationships. Compare the info found on that web site with the info that is found on geni and make corrections to the profiles on either site that match the primary source documents like birth and death certificates.
On the spreadsheet for 1847 you'll find 15 tabs. Each tab contains the arrival of an individual group of pioneers that traveled with that particular group. Some of the columns of the spreadsheet are protected from editing but the column labeled "H" is the editable column where you can include a geni.com profile link for all located pioneers. I've finished the first two sheets and am currently working on sheet #3 of 1847. This is a huge undertaking and I could use the help both in compiling who has profiles on geni, adding those that are found missing and then keeping this spreadsheet up to date so that we can track progress.
thx in advance for your help!

PS. I have the same kind of spreadsheets publicly available for all 56,333 currently known Utah Mormon Pioneers. I could use help on any of the arrival years not just this one.
Sheet #4 is done.
Moving onto sheet#5. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15nJuT1qrBURFiSPj8cP4hpUUMQi...
Let me know if you have any questions on how to help
Sheet #6 is done which is the Ira Eldredge company. Of the 190 pionners in that group 122 are on geni and 78 are missing. Sheet #7 is already done so I'm moving onto sheet#8 which has 166 pionneers that traveled with the Jedidiah Grant company.
Let me know if you have any questions on how to help.

Sheet #8 is now done which was the Edward Hunter company of 160 pioneers. I was able to find 99 of them on geni which means we are missing 61 that are not on geni. I'm moving on to sheet#9 which is the Abraham Smoot pioneer company that had 81 pioneers in it.

Sheet #11 is done which lists pioneers who are believed to have arrived in 1847 but there is not enough information to determine specifically which pioneer group they came with. Of these 29 pioneers 20 of them are not yet on geni.
I'm moving onto sheet #12 which has 212 pioneers that need to be looked up.
Volunteers are needed. Let me know if you have any questions on how to help.
The survey of the 1847 arrivals is now completed.
On Geni: 1,333
Not on Geni: 808
Total 1847 pioneers: 2,141
Volunteers are needed to find the eight hundred and eight, 1847 pioneers that are not on geni. Please consider helping and if you add them to geni please update the spreadsheet to include a link to their profile.

Now that 1847 is done I'm moving on to the 1848 collection of spreadsheets. The 1848 year of travel has 2,667 pioneers that need to be researched of which only 127 are currently verified to have geni.com profiles.
