Does anyone have information on the Jewish history of this area? That is my ancestry. I don’t have any living relatives there that I am aware of, but I am sure that they exist.

Family names Weiner, Cohen, Moskowitz, Dolgopiat and Block.

Thank you.

Nancy, I have Weiner/Cohen relations by marriage from Schuylkill county. I don't know a lot about the Jewish history of the area, although my family lived there a few generations ago. There are living Weiner descendants, although I don't think any live there any longer. I have a more developed tree on Ancestry if you would like to connect.

I have Greenwald/Hirschler family that lived in Pottsville and Schuykill Haven 1850s-1900s. None of the names you list are on my tree but I’m happy to share more info if interested. My info is on Ancestry as well.

Private User There are a number of resources, though they tend to be community specific and hard to get nowadays. I know there was a number of books published in 80's and 90's - for example, "Jewish Voices of Hazleton", I believe Mahoney City, Punxsutawney, and Shenandoah also had articles and short publications prepared

Thank you. A branch of my Hirschler family lived in Hazelton and Shenandoah (Gabriel and family). And another branch - married to Lavenson - lived in Mahanoy City.
