Benjamin had not been married prior to his marriage to Mary Finley in the home of 'Squire McCama' in Guilford Co., NC. No records for Benjamin have ever been found before this marriage and his parents are unknown at this time. He could not possible have been the son of John and Lillian McIlhenny Bowen since they were in Augusta Co., VA LONG before Benjamin was born and all of their children were born in Virginia. They left PA for VA with her parents and others of both families and no children were born in PA. Since Benjamin would be well down the line in order of birth (2nd from youngest) he could not possibly be their son.
It is possible, although not proven, that he is the grandson of another of Moses' brothers, however nothing putting him in PA has been found although I am continuing to search. About the same time that Benjamin married Mary, two other men, Thomas and John Bowen, married in Guilford Co., NC - so am searching using their names too and I believe this Thomas moved to Kentucky after the war - all three were in the NC Continental Army - he was at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.

The Bowen and Findley families went from Lancaster Co. PA to Guilford Co. NC before the American Revolutionary War. Benjamin served in the NC Line in the War. Benjamin and Mary married and later moved to Anderson County where he received a land grant of 490 Acres for seven pounds which was signed by Governor Thomas Pinkney on January 5, 1789.

Hello, would like to find my husband's Bowen Patriot, they are in North Carolina at the time of the American Revolution, AWI New to this process so any clarification would be helpful as there are so many John Bowen mentions. Not seeing a connection to Moses either. TIA
