Hey, everyone.

I've hit a roadblock in my family tree. That roadblock is the Ross family. I have Georginna Ross: Georgianna Laplante and the names of her parents:

John Ross

and

Marguerite Ross

I sort of have John Ross's parents. But, here's the thing. John Ross is a VERY common name. All I have to go on is that he was born in Canada and may or may not have been married to a woman named Adele Cyr.

Note: Don't try to sell me on Adele. I saw this combination profile of her on Ancestry and she had over 2 dozen kids Erica and other curators helped me figure out that while she MAY have been his wife, the info is probably dubious at best.

I also found her on FamilySearch. Tons of profiles. None match up with this mess:

I'd like to find out the real deal. People on wikitree are trying to sell me on the lady. I dunno if it is true. Mainly because there's another lady mentioned in my grandmother's book about the family. Her name is Matilda. No last name given.

I don't know what the deal is. Or what's going on. No idea who Adele and her supposed brood of kids is, either. With a last name as common as Ross, I don't think that's the mother.

Sorry if I seem snarky. Just tried of people trying to sell me on her. If you wanna sell me that, I got some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell ya.

Please help if you can! I really don't have much to go on. Familysearch gives me way too many John and John Baptiste Rosses. It's like looking up Smith in the Whitepages. Thanks in advance.

Just wanted to update and say I found the info I needed to prove/disprove the whole Adelle vs Matilda thing. Apparently according to the US census from 1880, Matilda was a daughter in law.

Common mistake, I guess. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MFQH-9V5?from=lynx1&tre...

Looks like I got work to do. Oy....

And yes, I found the family too.
