I am looking for the specific link between the father of my grandmother named R' Shimon Fuchs and William Fox (the well-known Filmmaker that nowadays Fox network etc. is on his name). The link was well known in the family in the previous generation but is unknown today. R' Shimon Fuchs was born In Hidasnemeti (in Hungary 2-3 km close to the Slovakian border on E74) in 15/6/1861 and had buried in Presov on 1933 (well documented). His father Hebrew name was Yoel (and his mother name may be Katy). He was married to Sara Weingarten (1863) born and live prior to marriage in Siroka.
What I have found in JEWISHGEN is as follow. Michael (Mihaly) Fuchs (1856) is William's (1879-1952) Father. Michael father Marton (Mordech) (1810) was born in Hidasnemeti (as Shimon). According to 1869 Census His wife Beti (Gutman) (1820) and all the following offspring were all born in Tolcsva: Herman (Hershke) b. 13/8/1848, Michael (1856), Moritz (1862) who seems to be Moshe David (30/3/1861 or 28/12/1861). In addition, they have the following daughters: Rozalia registered also as Sara (1845) who was married to Hirsch Kohn on 7/10/ 1875 in Tolscva and Hani (11/7/1850).
My beginning point in my endless digging was that as I was told that William FOX (The filmmaker) is the son of Shimon brother. Now, after looking at many records I suspect that Simon's father Yoel is the brother of Marton.
I would be much obliged If you could enlighten on these matters.
