Elizabeth Hamilton - THE ANCESTRY OF ELIZABETH HAMILTON

I would like to identify the ancestry of Elizabeth Hamilton, the wife of Sir William Weir of Stonebyres. The Geni tree identifies her as the daughter of James, Earl of Arran, and his wife Janet Beaton, but this couple appear not to have had a daughter named Elizabeth Hamilton. Certainly, there is no mention of a daughter named Elizabeth in John Anderson's account of the family, https://archive.org/stream/historicalgeneal00ande#page/65/mode/1up/...+ or in Peter Barns-Graham’s summary of the evidence. http://www.stirnet.com/genie/data/british/hh4aa/hamilton01.php Barns-Graham does identify an illegitimate daughter of the Earl of Arran named Elizabeth Hamilton, by a woman named Elizabeth Lindsay, but she is said by him to have married Robert, Master of Sempill, and is clearly not the wife of Sir William Weir of Stonebyres.
