My great grandfather was Alexander Frank (b. 1840). He married into the Myers family from Norfolk, Virginia. He was married on May 2, 1870 in Portsmouth, VA. The only things I know about him are on the marriage certificate. His parents were named Morris and Mina Frank and he was born in Calin, Russia or Calise, Prussia.
There is a Caline, Kalisz or Calissia in Poland. The city passed to Prussia in 1793, was transferred to Russia in 1815, and was restored to Poland in 1919. So it would have been a Russian town in 1840 when my great grandfather was born.
I have never been able to locate any of his other relatives.
