Geni lists 17 children of Powhatan.
Only 4 are proved.
Jeanie Roberts cites Helen Rountree (re-paragraphed for better comprehension):
"Only three other children have been identified as the offspring of Powhatan. Matachanna, a daughter, who in 1616 was married to the priest Uttamatomakkin. She may have traveled with Pocahontas, John Rolfe and Uttamatomakkin to England, but there is no record of her doing so.
"Pocahontas also had a brother named Nataquoud. [15] Nataquoud was present at the aborted execution of John Smith. Smith wrote about him later saying he was the most manliest, comeliest and boldest spirit he has seen in a "savage". [16]
"Helen Rountree also says that there was another daughter whose marriage was recorded, but whose name was not. At the age of eleven she married an important tribal leader, three days journey away.
"That leaves us with Cleopatra."

Jeanie Roberts also provides a list of Powhatan's wives taken from Strachey (1610-11) that is more complete than we have on Geni.
Sounds like a good project for someone with an interest in this family.
I am looking at a different language here.
There is a chance that Wahunsobacock Powhatan had more than one wife to have many chilfren. This is not unusual to have many. No birth control at that time.
I am a descendent of Pocahontas sister. In English they called her Cleopatra. (Metachanna). The Powhatans married into my Cherokee lineage. Dragging Canoe and Red Bird....who was Aaron Brock.
This is an ongoing research. Want to make sure of correct names. And dates of birth.
re: There is a chance that Wahunsobacock Powhatan had more than one wife to have many chilfren.
More than a chance - it was so documented by the English who met him. "He had 100 wives, 20 sons, 10 daughters." (Possibly an exaggeration)
We have the names of some of them, that's what has been posted as references on this discussion. There's another reference from Lyon Gardiner Tyler I found last night, and using that as well to fill in some of the underdocumented family profiles. There is also a project dedicated to Powhatan and his family.

From this I learned more about wife of Pipsico 2nd husband Pepsicumah "Pipisco", weroance of Quiyoughcohanock and also about a wife and son of Powhatan.
So that was yesterday's find.
Good enough. I"m doing one thing and one thing only. I"m contributing a bit here and there to the ongoing process of cleanup. As I work on Trader Hughes to distance him from my my line, I come across stuff. I share it. Someone who specializes in this area might someday do something with it, but I'm not getting invested in that cleanup. My interest and skills lie elsewhere.
