There are still some things to straighten out about the Woodbridge Stone family.
The Samuel Stone who is married to Rebecca (believed to be Rebecca Bloomfield) died in January, 1749. This is confirmed by his will which was written in 03 Sep 1748 and proved on 11 January 1748/9. The will names wife Rebecca, son Samuel who is underage and daughter Sarah. One of the administrators of the will is brother William Stone. This William Stone is likely the William who lived 1700-1788.
It is quite possible that the Samuel Stone who died in 1780 was the son of Samuel (1698-1749) and Rebecca. Samuel the son of Samuel was born about 1738. He was perhaps married to Mary Alston. Jonathan Alston in his 1774 will makes a bequest to daughter Mary "now the wife of Samuel Stone." That would fit with this being the Samuel who died in 1780 as his will is administered by Thomas Alston.
There are a couple of other things to resolve about the Samuel Stones in Woodbridge.
There is a Samuel Stone who died in 1771 with a widow Charity. I am not sure how he fits in.
There is also a Samuel Stone, Sr. who died in 1748. His will was written 17 Aug 1748 and proved 2 Sep 1748. He has a wife Mary and a daughter Mary. No son is mentioned, so not sure why he is Samuel Stone, Sr. It is a curiosity that the will of the older Samuel was proved 2 Sep 1748 and the will of the other Samuel (mentioned above as dying in 1749) was written 3 Sep 1748. But the younger Samuel must not be the son of Samuel, Sr. because he is not in the will.
I am working on figuring out how all these people fit together and will provide an update if I figure it out.
And then there are the William Stones -- those seem to be less complicated.
Update: The gravestone for the Samuel Stone who died February, 1780 gives his age as 32 years 6 months, so he is definitely not Samuel born in 1698. He could still be the son of Samuel born in 1698; that Samuel died in 1749 and he has a minor son Samuel at the time of his will. Samuel could have been born in 1747.
