I found a Violet Owen (housewife) and Edward George Owen (storeman) who lived at 134 Riverbend Rd in 1978 and in 1981. For some unknown reason Edward isn't recorded in the 1930s an 1940s electoral roll.
I honestly can't find any more information on your grandmothers marriages.
But I think it is best to contact the DIA as they may have the information that you are after.

So you want to add members on your family tree?
What you do is where it say Immediate Family on the persons profile it should have a hyperlink saying "Add Family". What you can do is if you want to connect the added person to other relatives go on view tree and click "more" to "move this person" if you want to connect them to someone else. If struggling do feel free to ask for help.
May I ask............... How old did you grandmother Violet die?
Just curious as it seems she had the surname Owen for a long time from 1930s to 1980s.
I'm not too sure if Violet is living or not. It was just my assumption as I am guessing she would have been an adult in the 1930s. Which makes me question whether she would be alive today, because if she is she would be in her 100s possibly.
Oh you don't need a curator. =) I can actually add Edward George Owen on if you like me to.
Private User the trick is to edit relationship of the spouse you DONT want connected to the kids, when deleting the connection between Vi and Ed from Ed's page all the kids stayed with Vi. I then made a dummy Ed as a new husband and merged your floating Ed back into him. I don't think you could break the spousal relationship between Ed and Vi tho, because as Ed has no other connections to the tree it needed Curator to disconnect him from Vi, even if only for a minute. There are ways you could havedone i but slower and more effort, owing to annoying laptop typing this message actually took longer than fixing the tree :)
Okay, I was only reacting to R.Daly's message, I was born in NZ but i have no research skills for NZ data.
Just to let you know it is Geni etiquette to not delete profiles, no one is going to be upset in this case but for future reference we could have broken the spousal relationship between Ed and Vi by merging husband Ed into son Ed. There is a MOVE option when you are looking at Tree View which would have facilitated this and does not need curator involvement.
Hi Sandy!
At this stage, to be honest................... As much as I would love to help out I think the best way to find out your fathers parentage is by buying a copy of his birth certificate. Because I have came across a lot of dead ends so far. You may have to wait 16 years later (2033) to buy it.
Have you seen his birth or death certificate yet?

Richard =)
That's alright Sandra, everyone is a newbie when they start, if no one tells newbies the norms how would they learn? :)
Based on the 1940 marriage of Aunty Vi and Uncle Pidge i have set thier birth dates as circa 1920, this gives us a ten year range (1915-1925) for their birth. Setting this age for Pidge is really just a guess but setting it for Vi is attempting to make her an adult while keeping her as young as possible.
I've set Nana Vi's birth date as circa 1900, again a bit of a guess but I am basing it on Aunty Vi's 1920 date. Usually it is better to use an estimate of 30 years per generation but given that you said Nana Vi died about 10 years ago i didn't want to make her too old. I have set her death date as "before 2000".
As well as giving Pidge an estimated birth date I have also marked him as deceased (without any date) as this makes the profile public and so more visible to others who may be researching this family. I also added his middle name and Aunty Vi's too as the more data each profile contains the better chance you have of getting a match.
Hi Sandy!
You are more than welcome!
No worries, that's ok if you deleted him because I was in the wrong touching your tree.
Don't worry, those names from the past will eventually come into your mind.
Besides this....... I do look forward to the many stories to come about your father's whakapapa and the interesting findings.
Kind Regards,
cousin Richard
