Hi my name is Sandy Lovejoy and i'm researching my material grandmother through her Campbell linage has led me to Mary,Queen of Scots i am somewhat confused on Mary's Husbands in several family trees i 've seen it has Lord Henry Stuart darnley as her first husband then Robert stewart the 3rd there is another after him i can't remember his name i 'm hoping that someone will help me clear up this mystery thank you

Hello!

The three husbands we have on Geni at the moment are the right ones.

Francis the Dauphin of France; Henry Stuart (Lord Darnley), and James Hepburn (the Earl of Bothwell.)

How ever could you forget that scandalous rogue, the Earl of Bothwell? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Hepburn,_4th_Earl_of_Bothwell

Mary was never married to Robert Stewart.

She *was*, however, married at sixteen to Francis, Dauphin of France (soon to be Francis II and not much later to be defunct).

I mentioned the Earl of Bothwell.

Oh, were we crossposting?

Hi Sandy I have researched Mary, Queen of Scots also and my findings on her 3 spouses are as follows:

Mary, Queen of Scots
Spouse
James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell
m. 1567–1578

Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley
m. 1565–1567

Francis II of France
m. 1558–1560

Courtesy of Wikipedia.
Mary's first husband was King Francis II of France but he died 2 years after their marriage. Lord Darnley was her first cousin, the second husband.

Mary's Grandmother was Henry VIII older sister Margaret.

Are you a descendant of Mary, Queen of Scots?

Mary I, Queen of Scots is my 2nd cousin 12 times removed.

hi all thanks so much for responding to my post i do appreciated it it appears that Mary queen of Scots is my 21st Great Grandmother on my maternal Grandmother Helen Campbell 's father's side most of his line came from Amherst,Va and Ireland and Scotland . i was told by other Campbell descendants who have research the same lineage as i do said it's very unlikely that i am descendant of anyone from both Ireland and Scotland from what my information indicates that my family came from England,Ireland Scotland and Germany

I will have to say that it is very unlikely to be directly related to her. Although it is possible for her to be be an aunt as she is my 15th great aunt. I've done some digging and to be directly related, you'd have to be either part of the royal family or an aristocrat. Just based on time period and when people actually came over if you live in the US.

Mary of Scotland is my 30th great grandmother.
