Jacob´s and Polly´s son, James Madison, was born in Oglethrope Co., GA in 1802. He married Nancy Fike in Perry Co., AL about 1824 and shortly thereafter moved to Hardin Co., TN. By 1840, all of the McCarty family was living near Tippah Co. MS. James moved on to Anderson County, Texas, near Palestine, about 1845. About 1856, James moved to near Duffau where he became one of the first settlers of Erath County. He was a member of the first commissioners court. James Madison died at Meridan, Bosque Co., TX in 1869.
