I have spent a lot of time trying to find information on Margaret, who is supposed to be one of my ancestors. I've seen her father listed as John or Michael de la Pole, depending on the source. Burke's Peerage says that John, Earl of Lincoln, died without issue, while other sources say he had issue. It does not seem likely that Margaret was his daughter. Does anyone have any other information on her parentage?

John Hardy and Olive Council were m. Bedford County, England in 1632. Ref. LDS marriage records in Bedford, England. John's older brother George first came to VA, arriving prior to 1636, and was a shipwright. This brother, George, transported his nephew George, son of John and Olive, to VA, and later secured patents to transport John, Olive, and 3 more of their 7 children here. They were John, Olive, and Richard. I do not know whether the other three, Emanuel, Thomas, and Deborah chose to remain in England, or if they were deceased. Of the 4 here:
1.George Hardy, b. 1633, m. Mary Jackson (my lineage).
2.Olive Hardy, b. 1635, m. Colonel John Pitt.
3.John Hardy, b. 1637 Bedford Co., England, m. Alice, according to his will dtd 7 Oct. 1676.

I have have John de Hardy through his son, Sir Michael de Hardy who married Lady Allisin de Shelton.
I have Sir Michael de Hardy through his son; another knight, Sir John de Hardy who married Mary Margaret Newton. Let me know if you want the extensive info on them. I have Sir John through Richard I Esquire Hardy who came to America to Isle of Wight, Virginia, & married Alice Wilson.
Barbara, thanks for responding. I see you also mentioned Mary Stanley and John Hardy, who I also directly descend from. From what I've read, there's some doubt Mary Stanley was the son of George Stanley and Jacquetta Woodville, Lady Strange. I've seen a theory that Mary was actually the granddaughter of George and Jacquetta due to her alleged birth year. Also, I've looked at different peerage records and Mary isn't listed as George and Jacquetta's daughter on any of the ones I've seen. John Hardy was definitely a real historical figure, but he was an Alderman of London, not Lord Mayor. I read a credible explanation of why he is said to have been a Lord Mayor when he wasn't, which is he had an untimely death and died right before becoming Lord Mayor.
I've had a hard time finding much more on any of these individuals. What we have for sources of information are a book with a shaky reputation (Wurt's Magna Charta) and a family memoir. If you have any more information on Margaret de La Pole or Mary Stanley/John Hardy, please let me know.
Barbara, thanks again. I just realized I said Jacquetta is said to have been the mother of Mary Stanley, instead of Joan le Strange. Joan le Strange is actually the one who is said to have been Mary Stanley's mother. I was thinking Joan and George Stanley might have been Mary's grandparents, instead. I have little doubt that Mary existed, but it's hard to determine her actual parentage. I have run into various roadblocks with this line
