Yes, I recommend changing Maud's name to Lucy and merge her and Hodges into the real Hodges and Lucy.
Also, I think we should go ahead and merge the remaining fake children of Hodges Council into the real children of Hodges and Lucy.
John Council, Sr. and his wives are also fake. We haven't heard from Erin though, so perhaps label John as fake and set him free as a floater for the time being?
Merging is done. I just contacted the managers of Hodges Council & Erin as curator suggesting we merge him into the profiles for Hodges Councill & his wife, and pointing to this discussion for an questions.
After calling Hodges Council a fake guess what I found, these entries relating to the administration of Richard Jeffries. Mentions John Councilling & Alice Councilling relict of Richard Jeffries.
JEFFRIES, Richard: Dying intestate, administration requested by John Councilling, who married the relict of the said Jeffries, Aug. 9, 1666. R. Oct. 15, 1666.
Security, Mr. England, George Branch
JEFFRIES, Richard: appraisal ordered August 11, 1666. Appraisers, John Snellock, Morgan Lewis, John Newman, Thomas Ward. Signed by Alice Councilling the relict. September 10, 1666

Find a grave has a Lucy Hardy Council having parents John Hardy and Olive Council Hardy. Follow the Olive link and there is an argument there about Olive even being alive when Lucy was born, which is clearly shown in the dates on the page.

It is suggested, that John married Alice Bennett and that is possibly Lucy's mother. There is alot of info on John's findagrave page.

Good finds, Christopher. We've been working with Tom King, quoted in the Findagrave Memorials, on the Hardy family.
" It has long been proven that the 2nd wife of John Hardy was an Alice Tucker Allen, widow of Arthur Allen who died in 1669 in Surry Co., VA and they had no children, Alice being 60 years old by 1670. ...."
So far my inclination is to spin off John Jeffries - his widow Alice - John Council, all in Isle of Wight in 1666, into their own little standalone tree. The managers of the current profiles would be most interested in the line where there is known descent (ie Hodges Council).

The suggestion that John Council who married widow Alice Jeffries was the father of Hodges Council comes from a book called
Magna Charta, Part VII by John S Wurts of Germantown, Philadelphia, PA, 1954, Brookfield Publishing Co, p2137).
Here's from the Amazon review

"Most people purchasing Wurts' books do so for their genealogical value, but even that should be taken with a grain of salt. None of the pedigrees that Wurts references come with any annotations, footnotes, or endnotes; you're taking his word that they're accurate. Most hereditary organizations do not accept Wurts' books as secondary sources, so its best to use whatever he presents as a roadmap for research in other more reputable books. By contemporary standards of genealogy Wurts' work is not at all acceptable."

What's the bet this is the origin of the Elizabeth Drake idea also?

Managers & curator authorized the merge of the current John Council into Hodges, & I'll spin off the one who married Alice into it's own tree.
Merge into Hodges Council complete.
Here's our standalone John Council who married widow Alice Jeffries in 1666, Isle of Wight. As far as I can tell, that's the only fact we have about him.
Christopher James Wright please use findagrave.com with caution.
As mentioned by Maven it is a user contributed site. It has a mix of good and bad information. It's not always easy to spot the bad information.
For example, on this record for Olive Council Hardy
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=74219555
There is no proof that Olive was a Council and she certainly wasn't the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Drake) Council. They are a fabrication possibly done deliberately to gain royal ancestors.
The note about Tom King's research and observations is good information as it examines relationships that were thought to be correct but actually have no proof.
(Plus we can ask Tom King).
Maven had warned about the Wurts book - it has long since been replaced by Richardson's Magna Carta Ancestry.
Tom King has warned about Boddie, who is a standard source for Isle of Wight genealogy, that one was disappointing to me.
There's nothing like getting into the original records. The picture of County Somerset town life matches my mental image of life for these early planters. I also believe we are now on track to find more Somerset connections among the colonists.
