All, We have multiple Jews who have DNA tests who are from Kolomea. If you know you are from the town, please test, so we can have a more complete family tree.

My mother tested at FTDNA. Supposedly her great grandmother was from Kolomea, but I am having trouble finding the proof. Maybe one of these days...

Steve,

Gitta Keith and I are on FTDNA. If you can load the results into gedmatch, it is easier to use.

We have a comprehensive family tree (GItta, Todd and I) on Geni.com and MyHeritage.com. I don't remember seeing your last name in the tree, but perhaps we would recognize your ggrandmother's or her parents, someone from your 'tree'.

Regards, Jill

My mom's results are also on Gedmatch. I like FTDNA a little better.

My mother's ggm is Hanna Henny Chava Tillinger - a lot of what I know comes from JRI-Poland, however the things I need in order to know more no longer exist.

Take a look at my friend and her mother. Sokol is their surname. On FTDNA. One of her lines is from Kolomea.

Does anyone have 19th c. matches with KARP or BERKOWICZ or WIEN? My great great grandfather: Simon/Szymon KARP. My great grandfather, his son, Jacob (born 1850s). Jacob married into nearby BERKOWICZ family (Stanislowow). The only record I have for Kolomea is an 1895 marriage record, giving all these names. The actual (religious?) marriage was in the 1870s, though.
