The family of this Thomas Harris are well documented in a 1995 book entitled "The Five Thomas Harrises of Isle of Wight County Virginia" by John A Brayton. It proves that this Thomas Harris d1712 only had one wife Judith Edwards who was still single in Sept 1701 when she sold her 1/3 share of the land inherited by her and her two sisters to a brother in law James Briggs. It goes further to prove that Thomas and Judith only had ONE child, a son Benjamin Harris who died before 1758 leaving only a daughter Mary as 'sole heir" of the property of her deceased father and his mother. The Thomas Harris who died c1740 with a wife Hanna had a proven brother named Henry Harris, both by DNA testing and by documents cited in the 1995 Brayton book. All previous claims that this Thomas Harris and his brother Henry Harris were sons of Thomas Harris d1712 and Judith Edwards are totally wrong. There are NO LIVING DIRECT MALE HARRIS DESCENDANTS OF THE THOMAS HARRIS DIED 1672 after his only grandson Benjamin Harris died by 1758.
The notes in the overview should be completely removed as they pertain to the Thomas Harris d1677 or the Thomas Harris d1672. Only the first paragraph is partially complete as to this wife Judith Edwards filing the appraisal of his estate in Mar 1712, the part about her being the 2nd wife is entirely false. These are all taken from the website of Michael Stanhope in England that tries to combine all of the Harris families in Isle of Wight into one connected family while DNA had proven at least three and possibly four distinct Harris lines there. He tries to connect people with the same name in England to people with the same name in Virginia with no proof that they are the same persons.
