Please not that the source of the marriage records for Capt John Jennings are derived from Abstract done by Blanch Chapman from the original Isle of Wight DEED records, and are NOT reliable as to the dates of marriages. The dates shown are taken from a deed record that may be decades before a wife's name is actually named in a deed. The marriage of Capt John Jennings to Martha Harris is proven to be in 1659 when he took control of the estate of her deceased father Robert Harris, NOT the 1669 date given by Chapman when Martha had already died by 1663. The dates of birth for the children of Capt John Jennings place them from 1665-1672 so his marriage to the widow Mary Seward must have been c1664 and not the 1778 date given by Chapman in her abstracts. Be extremely cautious of using these Chapman abstracts as they omit a lot of useful data that would further identify the persons named in the abstracts and a lot of the actual IOW registers she cites DO NOT EVEN NAME THE PERSON IN THE ABSTRACT. So do not try to read into these abstracts without researching the actual original Isle of Wight Will and Deed books.
