William born 1251 can not be son of Henry if he died before birth of William Stop using your Favorite Wikipedia and Stirnet Junk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_de_Baliol
also it is Known that Henry and Alexander are both of Cavers https://books.google.ca/books?id=WV-TM0HNgeoC&pg=PA61&lpg=P...
(Cavers Castle) is in Ayrshire Scotland, That suggests those 2 where born there, Cavers Castle was owned and built by the "Baliol Family" around 1200 see here http://www.scotclans.com/scotland/visit-scotland/scottish-castles/s...
That does not mean other family members where not born there Thomas was of Cavers also and this source does not list William as son of Henry http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=tibar...
this source list William as Brother to Alexander
https://books.google.ca/books?id=u15IAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA265&lpg=...
as well as the Scott's Hall Book and Makes sense as Alexanders wife is of Chilham that is in Kent and William is Ancestor of the Scott's of Kent so William had a reasons to go to Kent from Cavers, as the Scottish wars of independence would be one reason to leave Cavers as the Baliol's had to change there name's also or Die and William de Baliol dropped Baliol as last name becoming William Baliol le Scot or William le Scot ancestor of the Scott's of Kent and Alexanders son William being a Baillie starting long lines of Baillies.
i would like to point out that playing around with there Occupations is not needed to Distinguish one individual from another just over complicates sorting out who is who William is a prime example, his occupation should not be with his name for the sake of where he fits in the Family, People can have several occupations over there life time, i for example Worked for the Coast Guard, i have been a Fense installer, a Power Tool Repair Technician, now im a CWB Certified Welder and Overhead Crane Opperator this stuff is not Rocket Science.
Its because of all this Crap that i Previously disconnected William from my Long Line of Scott's because i disagree with Henry as being the Father of William born 1251 not to mention the death date for Henry being years not 9 months before Williams Birth year
This Source says Henry died 1245

I Have posted a couple of sources in under the source Tab for Henry de Baliol's Profile for death year on says 1245 the other 1246
Erica your Junk Stirnet source did not even have a death date for Henry so how dare you argue with me about who William Balliol le Scot's father is, this is why i disconnected my line from this Henry and the Garbage stirnet source of yours that you have duplicated on the Wikipedia site that should never be used as a source for ancestry i might add. and the comment in the stirnet source about William Balliol le Scot and Alexander, There is more than one Alexander he also had a son Alexander and John's Father's name is John.
at the top of the stirnet source ill quote
"The sources we have found for this family support and contradict each other as shown
below." Lol there is only one source in it, the lives of Baillies as the other one can no longer be found.
"Sir Henry de Baliol of Cavers, Chamberlain of Scotland
m. Lora de Valoniis (dau of William de Valoniis)
(1) Guy de Baliol (d Evesham 1265)
(2) Sir Alexander de Baliol of Cavers (and Chilham), Chamberlain of
Scotland (d before 06.1311)
TCP (Balliol of Cavers) points out that the common notion that this Alexander was a
younger brother of King John Baliol is erroneous.
m. (c1270) Isabel de Chilham (b after 1245, d by 01.05.1292, dau of Richard

(i) Sir Thomas de Baliol of Cavers
(ii) Isabel de Baliol

(B) Sir Henry Baliol, 1st of Hoprig
(C) William Baillie, 2nd of Hoprig
m. ?? Wallace (dau of Sir William Wallace, the patriot)

m. Isabella Seton (dau of Sir William Seton of Seton) --
(3) William de Baliol 'le Scot' (b c1251, d c1313, Chamberlain of Scotland)
William is sometimes identified as brother of King John (above). This is
thought to be because he is known to have been a brother of Alexander of Cavers, the

Chamberlain, and Alexander is sometimes erroneously described as brother rather than
cousin of King John."
what a crock of Garbage to assume Henry is William Baliol le Scot's Father from that
stirnet sources quoted below just for laughs Lives of Baillies should really only be used for the Baillie Family not the Baliol Family

Private User Crikey i'm confused! So i'm a Coventry Bailey (going back to Long Lawford) and i'm trying to track back during the 1700's currently as to whether this branch hails from Preston Capes in Daventry or further back in Warwickshire. I came here looking to try and get some idea of the early migration paths of Baileys but I really don't understand how the Bailey family (with various spellings) fit in here. Are you saying Bailey/Bailie et al is a corruption of de baliol? Thanks.
