Does anyone have any information on Dundridge manor in Aston Clinton in the Buckinghamshire area. A Baldwin forefather (connected to Henry VIII - you could say "staff") lived in Dundridge Manor well before the land was subdivided. From memory, this Manor was owned by The Countess of Salisbury, either French or of French Descent. She met an unpleasant end, it has been stated, because she was an inconvenience to King Henry. I need to research more on this, but in the meantime wondered if anyone has more detail to hand..

I look forward to any comments.

I've added an entry to the project with a link to the Victoria County History which details the history and a brief description from WIkipedia.

may also be of interest.
Side note - I live in the Chilterns. It's an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Thank you Terry. Both links are very helpful and my forefathers are mentioned - must have missed this info along the way.. Will have a coffee and a good read.

I looked up the Chilterns and you are right, its beauty is magnificent. You must be thankful that there areas such as yours without heaps of housing developments. So close to Oxford and fairly near greater London where another bough of a tree branches out. A lot to learn Terry. Thank you for taking the time to reply. You are appreciated.

Housing is a bit of a tender issue just now (almost everywhere in the UK). It feels like they are trying to urbanise our lovely rural area!
