Thomas Harris, Sr., of Surry - @Thomas Harris, Sr, of Surry

The two proven wives of Thomas Harris are still listed with the Harris surname. The 1st wife Elanor George is proven by a power of attorney attorney of her son John Harris d1713 to 'his loveing uncle Nicholas George (Jr) in Lancaster' to sell the land in Lancaster Co., VA that he inherited in his father's will. The 2nd wife Alice Newman is proven by her brother John Newman acting as security on the probate of Thomas Harris d1672. He never lived in Surry, having emigrated with his parents c1659 to Lancaster Co., VA where he married both times. He just speculated on the Surry land and quickly sold it so the description of 'of Surry' is quite misleading. His widow Alice Newman Harris then signed a prenuptial agreement in 1673 with John Sojourner to protect the interests of her Harris children to the estate of her deceased husband Thomas Harris.
