??!!!
is it saying mathu had a child and was burried, or he was burried, this is in Leiden,, but the death was in Varkensmarkt (Roermond), are they close together?, as far as i know roermond was in north, ,i thought Leiden is south ?, that would be a long journey to burry a child, or have i got it twisted ?.

It is a child of Mateu that was burried. Varkensmarkt (=pigsmarket) is the street/square that the person lived at in Leiden (which is in the West, part of the province of South-Holland).

Thank you Hubert, so it has nothing to do with Roermond then. , which is a shame

Why interest in Roermond?
Leiden was a (the?) university city so quite plausible that someone (Mateu?) Could be from another part of the country but burying a child in Leiden.

Because, Roermond, and Linne, are the furthest back i can trace with out a doubt, my grandfathers family tree, and the Roer, , but of course it is hardest, when i have so limited dutch understanding,, and living so far away :0 .it has been something like 6 years since i had the last Meuren discovery, and nothing since, i havnt been able to find out, who Gerards father was, because acording to legend :) he simply appeared oneday, and no one seems to know anything about him. :) i would love to know, There was a time when Roermond, was captured by Napoleons Army, and so many records were burnt from the churches, when napolean, decided governments, and not the churches, would undertake, the recording of births deaths and marriages. i have been told. .

Napoleon ruled all of NL, this is the reason why civil records start in 1812. I have not heard before that there was an intended destruction of Church records, perhaps it was an inadvertent loss during the fighting specific to that area?

Perhaps it was just a fire too, and nothing to do with napoleon, at the time lol, i might have that wrong alex,

the ROER your mention, but be aware of the fact that Dutch can swim like best fishes in the world, so you have to track down the whole river to know he/she might be have token a dive...

Haar man Gerardt Mueren was niet thuis. Waarschijnlijk woonde het gezin Meuren er al rond 1660/65, toen Gerardt de pacht van zijn schoonvader overnam. aaaaah, you read and write Duts, thats easier for my...

no jeanette, i have to use a translater, i am very limited in dutch language, and the translater is terrible :)

You see the alternative fact? The surname is also written like MUEREN? That opens new perspecttives...

just a spelling mistake, , throut the manuscript the author writes it at least 3 different ways, ,it may have been at the initial written work, i have tried some different spelling tecnik, still nothing, but thank you for noticing :)
