This Thomas Harris was not born in 1616 as that is the date of birth for a totally unrelated Thomas Harris who patented the 1000 acres in IOW but abandoned it by 1668 when it was re patented to Joseph Bridger. He had purchased the Westover Hundred in Charles City plantation of his deceased brother from his widow in 1663 and he never lived in Isle of Wight, just speculated on this marshy land. This Thomas Harris d1677 and is buried in the nearby Westover Chapel Cemetery in Charles City. The Thomas Harris d1672 has no living direct male Harris descendants since his only grandson Benjamin Harris died before 1758 when his only child Mary Harris signed a quit claim for the property of her deceased father Benjamin and his mother Judith Edwards Harris Clarke. This Thomas Harris d1672 emigrated with his parents c1650 to Lancaster Co., VA where he married 1st to Eleanor George and had ONE son John Harris who married twice as a Quaker and died in 1713 leaving eight daughters. After Eleanor died before 1661, he married Alice Newman and had several daughters and ONE son Thomas Harris who married Judith Edwards after Sep 1701 and had only the one son Benjamin Harris before he died in 1712. It is the 2nd wife Alice Newman Harris who signed a prenuptial agreement in 1673 with John Sojourner to protect the interests of her children to the estate of her deceased husband Thomas Harris.
