Profiles Mentioned:

My great-great grandfather was John Elliott Brown he may or may not have been married to my great-great grandmother, Sarah Amelia Perkins. In either case John Elliott Brown and Sarah Amelia Perkins had at least one son, John W. Perkins. Sarah also had other male children, Meredith D. Perkins, James Harve Perkins, Monroe Perkins and John Isaac Perkins.

When people search for Sarah Amelia Perkins they always say that she was married to John Elliott Brown. As far as I know no marriage certificate for them has ever been found. In fact no marriage certificate for Sara has ever been found, lots of speculation.

People also wonder why John W. Perkins changed his name to John B. Brown, and moved from Webbville, KY to Portsmouth, Ohio.

As published in The Big Sandy News of November 25, 1910, article in column 6 4th from the top "Killed His Cousin". The article goes on to say, John Dials (Diles) Perkins was shot and killed by his cousin Anderson Perkins.

John Diles was the son of Meredith Perkins and Anderson Perkins (William Anderson) was the son of John W. Perkins.

The story goes, as told by my grandfather, Morgan H. (Perkins) Brown, John W, and James Harve took on their father's names, so as to hide from the law. I was told that James' father was a "Mynier" . James changed his name to James Harvey Mynier and moved his family to Texas. Recently I heard that he moved to Oklahoma ( then Texas ?).

This is one reason that I needed to publish this, https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=3134... , Lula Ann Mynier, daughter of James Harvey Mynier, as the description reads, her name was Perkins then changed to Mynier, but they didn't know why.

The Big Sandy News., November 12, 1915, page 8 column 6 at bottom "Gave Bond" , http://kdl.kyvl.org/catalog/xt7n5t3g075s_8, Anderson Perkins was arrested in Portsmouth, O. He was extradited back to Louisa, KY and was freed on a $5000.00 bail.

Now you know the rest of the story....
