what You mean "Bierzon"? There is no so called place in Poland...

Some online records say "Bierzon" so that's what I put in my tree.
Probably incorrect Polish to English translation during census taking?

We here in America do not know Polish towns or provinces.
Poland borders changed a lot during wars, so it is hard to know where to even start looking.

And I dont speak Polish, have to use Google translate :)

Could you please give us a link to that "Bierzon" online records? So we could think about it :)

have you checked the documents of naturalisation, which you meant above?
I think that there should be more information about Joseph, f.e. about his parents. Maybe you could check it in US.S Naturalization office?

On the website:

you have the information, that in 1868 were born 248 persons whose name was Kurowski or nearby sounded surnames. That are people which acts of birth were indexed. There can be a lot of another births in 1868 - they are not indexed or are in another data bases.

In the naturalisation act is written that Joseph was born in Poland/Russia so I think it was in the east or south-east provinces of nowadays Poland or it could be also nowadays Ukraine or Belarus.

I think the easiest way to find more information about his family is to check the naturalization's all paper documents.
