Does anyone have any actual proof that Rebecca was a Marbury (or anyone else)? I've seen speculation that she was and that she wasn't. I've also seen speculation that after Richard died she re-married to a Hardell. Any proof that that is not the case? She was my bunch-of-greats (10 or so) grandmother and I'd really like to know. --Alison Gardner

If one accepts the birthdate of the wife of Richard Maxson, I as being May 1602, and that the infant Daniel Marbury's baptism date is correct, then ...

... at best, Daniel & Rebecca were twins,
or
Rebecca may not be a Marbury.

The "rhodyman" report claims she was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1602. The first white settlers didn't come to that area until 1635 (including Ann (Marbury) Hutchinson), and the town founded in 1639.http://newporthistory.org/about/brief-history-of-newport/
Find-a-grave has an essay on there being absolutely no proof as to Rebecca's maiden name. The Leuthardt Family has her as being born in England in May 1602 and a brother Daniel being born Sept 1602--not possible. I can't view the ancestory one. I agree with Daniel Cornett, at this point. I'm going to message Tom Brown at Find-a-grave, and see what he says. With his permission, I'll post it here.

I found this - .

" Included in the ships manifest list: William Hutchinson and his wife, Ann ( Marbury } Hutchinson with ten children. Richard Maxson and his wife, Rebecca { Marbury } Maxson with two children. Richard Scott and his wife, Catherine { Marbury } Scott. Ann, Rebecca and Catherine Marbury were all daughters of Rev. Frances Marbury and Bridget Dryden of London, England."

But elsewhere on another list of passengers on the 1634 Griffin crossing where Anne and the Hutchinson family were listed, there's no mention of Maxsons - (although it states 100 passengers but doesn't list 100 names).

Louise McComish: Do you have the reference where that first 'ships manifest' came from?
