I think you will find that Hyacinthe Gabrielle Wellesley was actually the illegitimate daughter of Hyacinthe Gabrielle Varis (Mme Roland) and Christopher Alexander Fagan and that her father was NOT Pierre Roland.
C.A. Fagan was born in 1733 and served in the French service and became a Kt. Mil. of the Order of St Louis. He was known as "The Chevalier de Fagan" and said to have been highly respected in the French and English capitals. He was severely wounded in the affair of Ham, and later lost considerable property in the French Revolution. He married Marie Therese Winoque Dominique de Cortes by whom he had two legitimate sons, and died on 6th January 1816.
My information comes from Burke's Irish Family records and also a comprehensive Fagan family pedigree drawn up a long time ago.
It would be nice if this record could be put straight, but if anybody has any proof that what I have said is incorrect I would be delighted to hear from them.
