Hello All, First let me state that my name is Richard Scott and am a straight line descendant off Scotts from Williamsburg County. To be clear' From John Scott Who was the father of Samuel Scott CSA, who lived and died in Williamsburg, not John Scott III. My findings are based on family records and the history of Williamsburg. With that being said, I've found a John Scott who could be the "III" in the book History of Williamsburg by Boddie. there is however a mention of s Scotts from Penn. who are listed on page 22 of this book.
On another note I've started over on Ancestry.com and submitted a DNA sample. So I will start taking down all I've posted on this sight. Hope to here from all over there.
Hi, Richard
Can you be more specific on what needs to be fixed? Posting links to the specific profiles in question and how their connections need to be changed will be very helpful to getting things correct.
There are certainly no constrains on removing your DNA information ... although it would be nice to have it here on Geni as well.
Keep in mind that the profiles on Geni are 'shared', and thus it is inappropriate to remove profiles which are or may be shared ancestors of other Geni members.
Looking at the tree now, it's clear that Samuel A. Scott, C.S.A. is clearly incorrectly attached to John T Scott, III; I'll detach them in a moment and add the children for John T, III from this FamilySearch.org link: https://familysearch.org/tree/person/LW5X-Y58/details
Then, maybe we can find the proper ancestors on Geni for Samuel A. Scott, C.S.A. and his siblings.
Now some dates are need for Samuel A. Scott, C.S.A.'s siblings; the name of their mother is not at all 'confirmed'.
Is this the same Samuel A Scott? https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=56795000 (looks like it)
Another branch on Geni had a lot of consistency about Samuel's brother and their parents' names; still not many dates, but does confirm (along with the FindAGrave memorial) of the mother's name of Elizabeth Amelia Scott.
I've not been at this for quite some time and my records are a shambles, so instead of working on both sites i want to concentrate on Ancestry.com where the rest of my family is working. Is there a way to share DNA results between sites? If so I would do it. I will leave this info intact and maybe monitor time to time.
My Scott info is all mixed in with Mewborn info and will take some time to organize.
