Every reference to "John" is as "Daughter", "Sister", etc. It looks as though we actually have a Joan here, not a John.

I propose to make her name match her gender, as there are no records of a "John de Toeni" (none of a "Joan" either, but there was at least one daughter, Marguerite, and a second one, especially if she died before marriage, isn't all that unlikely).
