My cousin, Hank Mishkoff, and I are leading a project that will begin Summer 2017, to restore the large, mostly abandoned cemetery in Przerosl. I will participate personally in the restoration. Please share this announcement with your relatives, including descendants of Przerosl or nearby towns (e.g., Filipow and Bakalerzewo).

Hank's announcement:

Exciting news: It looks like the Przerosl Jewish Cemetery cemetery will finally be restored this summer!

Last month we entered into an agreement with The Matzevah Foundation, an Atlanta-based group that specializes in restoring Jewish cemeteries in Poland. They're already setting up a meeting with officials in Przerosl next month (!), and they're making tentative plans to actually clear the cemetery in late June or early July.

As you've probably guessed, one of the reasons I'm posting this is because we still need more donations to make it happen. You can make a contribution at the project's website:
http://www.Przerosl.com/Donations.html

While you're on the site, be sure to visit the home page to view a remarkable video that was shot in the cemetery last year by our cousin Jonathan Misch (direct link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cQw4OoVNNI). I think you'll agree that the condition of the cemetery is deplorable -- but we're very fortunate to be in a position to actually do something about it, especially in light of the fact that so many Jewish cemeteries in Poland were completely obliterated during the Holocaust.

Also: The Matzevah Foundation uses volunteers to clear cemeteries, so not only do we need funds to cover equipment and administrative expenses, we're looking for volunteers as well. So if you think that you might like to spend a few days this summer doing something worthwhile and, hopefully, having some fun at the same time, let me know and I'll pass your contact info along to them.

If you'd like to keep up with our progress, we've set up a Facebook group that you can search for by name ("The Przerosl Jewish Cemetery") or access directly by this link:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/PrzeroslJewishCemetery/

Finally, I apologize in advance for the fact that some of you will receive this note more than once -- I'm sending it to a family email list and then again to a couple of Facebook groups. In spite of that, I still may have missed some family members, so I encourage you to forward this note to anyone else you think might be interested in contributing their time or money or just following along.

And, of course, please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about any of this.
