Cimabue - Who is this person?

How about opening his profile and reading his "About"? I recognized the name right off, but then, I have some interest in art and art history.

Short version: Florentine artist, lived c. 1240-1302, arguably the first Italian painter to start breaking away from the iconographic Byzantine style. Said to have taught Giotto (another name you should look up); this may not be true, but he probably influenced him.
