George "The Elder" Ash - Some digging

I have a lot of Ashes from around Leek on my wife's side of the family (it was her maiden name) so another Ash knocking around Leek is interesting.

I can't find his birth but there is a 1678 wedding of a George Ash to a Mary Addams in Leek:
