Geertje Hendricks , Belitje Hendrickse & Anneken Hendrickse

So far we are saying all we know is that they were of Arnhelm, Gederland, father named Hendricks.

Familysearch has parents for them, I can't make out whether valid or not. Opinons?

Geertje (married 1) Andries Hoppe 2) DIrck Gerritsen Van Dien)
Annatje (1st wife of Jan Arentsen Vanderbilt)
Beletje (wife of Cornelis Arentsen)

They were of Arnhem, Gederland.

How accurate is this traditional family description for Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt

In other sources I do not see that there were children by his 2nd & 3rd wives?

-----

Not sure how accurate the info below is:

"Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt was born circa 1627 in Utrecht, Holland (which is very near a town call de Bilt. (Vander = from, or of the) and immigrated to an unknown destination in 1640.

"He married Anneken Hendricks (b. Bergen, Norway - d. about 1655) on Feb 6, 1650 and had three children: Geertje Janse born before 1650, Aris Janse born before 1651 died 1715, Marritje Janse born bef 1651.

"Jan was also married to Dieber Cornelis (probably before 1680 but after 1656). They had Jacob Janse Vanderbilt who married Mary Vandervliet and had 5 children: Jan, Jacob (born 1694), Derrick (b. 1696), Antje (b. after 1696) and Hendrick (b. 1705).

"Jan married Magdalena Hanse, 11 Dec 1680 in Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY. Their son Jan Janse, married Helena Lefferts and had a daughter, Abigail.

"Jan died 2 Feb 1705/1706 in Bergen, Hudson, New Jersey at the age of 77."

Well Utrecht is not in Holland, Utrecht is a major city in the province which has the same name. Having said that, De Bilt is in the province of Utrecht and very close to the capital. So it is just a strangely written sentence.

On the genealogical side the reference to Helena Lefferts piqued my interest.
Two versions of her appear thru google

Helena Lefferts

Private

Neither of her father's are attached to the main Lefferts tree though?

At first i thought Helena was from the Lefferts family but the two profiles above are actually displaying patronyms so I think her fathers are actually duplicates for Leffert Hagewout. The Lefferts family is a branch of the van Hagewout family so i was looking in the right family just the wrong branch. Just need to confirm the matches before merging.

Age wise I don't see how Dieber Cornelis could have had a child with Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt. It's possible as we don't know her birth date, but her last child by her 1st husband (also killed by Indians) was 1642. Quite a gap.

Of the 5 children you attribute to Wife #2 in https://www.geni.com/discussions/163159?msg=1121912 4 of them have baptism dates after their father married Wife #3 in 1680.

Big red flag.

Initial thought is you are looking at 2 Jan vdBs in seperate generations, possible father & son.

Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt died 2 Feb 1705/1706 in Bergen, Hudson, New Jersey at the age of 77."

Here are our two problematics.

Jacob Janse Vanderbilt (son of Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt & ????) married Mary Vandervliet and had 5 children: Jan, Jacob (born 1694), Derrick (b. 1696), Antje (b. after 1696) and Hendrick (b. 1705).

Jan Janse Vanderbilt (son of Jan Aertsen Vanderbilt & ????) married Helena Lefferts and had a daughter, Abigail.

There was something in the Vanderbilt descriptions for their hill in Prospect Park Brooklyn that indicated a father / son mixup.
