Hi folks,
Back in 2008-9 when I was running high on my genealogy hobby/obsession, I manually entered about 30K profiles from the Hirschberg website into Geni, starting with my great-grandparents who were listed there and going (a) backwards all the way to the top of the tree, and (b) "sideways" from my ancestors all the way until 2nd (or sometimes 3rd) cousins.
I'm pretty sure most of these profiles were not added to the project, though I don't know that for sure. Certainly some of those trees are listed as "completed" on the project (e.g. Anisfeld), but others are not (e.g. Rakower).
While I'm no longer active on Geni, I'm happy to point anyone who is interested to a handful of relevant profiles to start exploring the tree from. If there's any way to bulk-add profiles to a project, that might make things easier.
cc Randy Schoenberg Eilat Gordin Levitan
cc Pam Karp as well!
For example, here is me second great grandmother's profile, who was in fact already listed on the project:
Hinda Myersdorf
Sorry for the multiple posts...
And here is an example of a profile that was *not* on the project until 5 minutes ago (added now):
Freydl Landau
Shiri Dori-Hacohen we could certainly use help. Unfortunately most of the original helpers have now dropped by the wayside.
As families are added to Geni the profiles are included in the project, as indicated by "COMPLETED". To date 38,000+profiles have been created and added to the project. So there is yet a way to go.
Leanne M (Volunteer Curator - Australia) 馃嚘馃嚭 thank you !
We always need help. I am guessing at another 28 - 30 k profiles still need to be added to Geni and the project so there is plenty yet to be done.
First join http://www.geni.com/projects/Jewish-Families-of-Krak%C3%B3w-Poland/.... Follow the guidelines, selecting a family from the list and work from the top ancestor link down the tree.
Send me a pm if you have any queries.

Thanks Shiri Dori-Hacohen. I did see quite a few of your added profiles when I worked on the project.
Hatte Blejer (absent until Nov 1), you're welcome!
Pam Karp and Randy Schoenberg, I completely understand. However, I would rather be honest about my inability to commit, given that my plate is extremely full these days. Geni is one among many projects I've had to set aside.
If I can assist in a more specific way (e.g. linking to family trees that I put in), please let me know and I'll do my best to respond in a (semi) timely manner.
Since these profiles are already in Geni, adding them to the project directly (rather than from the Hirschberg website) would reduce the risk of duplications and save additional effort. But, I completely understand that there is plenty of work to go around for you - please don't take this is an implied pressure or criticism.
If that sounds reasonable, I think it might make sense to start navigating from Hilda Anisfeld (see link above) and going up on the tree from there to her forbearers, and sideways from them to all siblings/cousins, to confirm that these people are all listed on the project. Pretty much all the profiles I added were my blood relations (all the way out to 2nd or even 3rd cousins of my great-X-grandparents, or spouses of those people). They were all sourced from that one profile of Hinda Anisfeld.
Hope this helps.
Thanks so much for the pointer Shiri Dori-Hacohen. I have definitely come across Anisfeld names in my Krak贸w travels.
If you recall we spoke shortly after you indicated your days were taken up without leaving time for further work on Geni, which was fully appreciated.
Glad I could help, Pam. Here is another one which I added to the project just now.
Rose (Ruchel / Roza) Horowitz
Also - in case it wasn't clear - from the Anisfeld tree, all marriage ties up the tree will lead to further family trees from the Krakow source.
