There is also a (coloured) De Klerk family in Stockenstrom district (Kat River valley) that decends from Jacob De Klerk and his wife Sophia Willemse. Their son Jacobus Petrus de Klerk was born near Cape Town ca. 1768, married Maria Petronella Toornheim and moved to Eland's Post in the Kat River Valley. Does anybody know if he links to the Hugenot family, either as a descendant or as a freed slave that used to be owned by the Hugenot family?
