My 6th g-grandfather was married to Abigail Dudley in Dover, New Hampshire. Abigail was b.c.1650. She and my 6th g-grandfather had a single child, Samuel Watson.

I am following this group to try to find additional information on my 6th g-grandfather, Jonathan Watson of Dover, New Hampshire. MY grandfather magically appeared around 1660 in Dover, New Hampshire. He is believed to have been born the Yorkshire area of England.

David Watson Kruger wrote a book about the early Watson Family. It was in this book that I learned of the marriage of Abigail and Jonathan. The approximate name of his book is: Jonathan Watson (1650?-1714) of Dover, New Hampshire.

Here is the link to the book. It can be read for free by one person at a time.

If anyone know of any books written about the Dudley Family, specifically the branch living in Dover, New Hampshire and Abigail, her father Thomas and mother Elizabeth I would very much like to know the name of the reference. It may provide me the clue I need to continue the research into my 6th g-grandfather's history.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi Geo:

I'm not for certain if we are working on the same Dudley line, but the Dudleys from that line are extremely difficult to trace unless you are descended from the famous Gov. Thomas Dudley whom I found out about while trying to find out about my 3rd great grandfather Thomas Dudley, no known connection to Gov. Dudley and from Virginia. Meanwhile, in the process of researching as many Dudley lines as possible, there is a good chance that the New Hampshire Dudleys may be among those lost Virginian Dudleys whom Dean Dudley tells us about in his book on the Dudley genealogy, from which I was unable to learn anything about my 3rd great grandfather and 3rd great grandmother, his wife, Lucretia Tankersley. I was unable to find any verifiable information on my Dudley 4th great grandparents, and all information connecting me to claims being his parents were all verifiably correct.

The point of this response is to share with you the challenges that I face with the Dudley line and to see if we could work together on finding the Lost Dudleys whom Dean Dudley and Charles W. Tankersley speak of in their genealogy records. I would be interested in learning what you have so far on Abigail to date.

Please feel free to call me if you would like to compare notes. I would really look forward to hearing from you!
