It appears that William's father may be one Alan Lambert. See "Genealogical and family history of the state of Connecticut," Volume 2, Part 1 (available online at https://books.google.com/books?id=XO8nAQAAMAAJ&printsec=frontco...). William and Alan are mentioned on p. 728 as part of lineage of the de Umfrevilles.
