There appears to be a hack or other profile corruption/ vandalism happening

Garth McDonald, this is the person we messaged about yesterday. In my personal opinion, deliberate vandalism.

I spent 5 hours yesterday cleaning up a lot of profiles - and curators also spent a lot of time fixing things. Now we just have to try to clean up the rest of the damage.

Have a few people working on reversals and removal of bad information. Whilst I appreciate your interest I don't really need anyone else getting involved. As I couldn't remove Susannah Devlin from herself I have deleted all the information recorded on the second Susannah. This is what occurs when people think they know what they are doing but really haven't got a clue. I am currently trying to fix a profile which had nine legitimate children and someone (I know who) has given them an additional 12 children - 21 in total and that is in only one husband and wife.

It looks like we are all trying to work on fixing the mess created.

I spent 5 hours yesterday correcting a family and today they are all messed up again.
It is a nightmare

The reason it's all messed up again is that I managed to go through and unmerge the bad merges and undelete profiles that had been wrongly deleted -- so you were fixing what was in the process of getting changed.

I THINK that piece of things is over, and that want we do now will stay.

It was unfortunate that Leanne had conscientiously worked so hard to fix things prior to you having to do what needed to be done.
We are now fully aware of the situation and will need patience and commitment to restore the data.

You are quite welcome! I am actually enjoying the puzzle.

One thing that will help, everybody, is to PLEASE not take information out of the profiles.

I know that it seems like the way to get rid of extras when you cant delete or detach, but I can fix things more easily if I can see what is there.

So sorry I undid things in two sections, and then was away for a while.

I am going to,do some more work before I call it a night. We can see where we are later!

Hi Anne,
This is not the first time that this user has done this and every time it is a huge mess for us to clean up. I understand that his access has again temporarily been cutoff but I am concerned that once he gets access back he will just do the same thing again.

You can see from his activity the previous times this has occurred, I am not talking an incorrect merge here or there (we all do that as we only human), these are pages of merges that are quite obviously not the same people or even the same family.

To be honest, it has made me question using GENI and having profiles that I create as public because this user's vandalism will continue to happen.

Please don't just change the name and change the sex - it does not fix the issue.
