Esther Shallin is my great aunt. She came to the United States on the Birma, and the family was from Yurvice in Belarus (near the border of Ukraine, a little northwest of of Chernobyl) and arrived in 1909. Her older brother was my father's father, Al Schlackman. Not sure the origin of her last name being Kahn, although I know there was a Cohen in the family. My grandfather's last name was Schlackman. I would like to see the family tree to see the connection, it seems to be through her husband Morris Shallin.
